And now for something sunny and nice…

Love those Canals!

Edam Canal

It’s December. We’re in what I affectionately call ‘the dark time’. Daylight is precious. The sun goes down well before 5 o’clock in the afternoon, doesn’t come upĀ until almost 8:30 in the morning.

But I am a ‘half full’ kind of gal. So I remind myself that it would be worse if we lived even further north, in Scandinavia.

Still, when it’s cold and rainy and dark, you can’t help but wish it weren’t. It does rain a fair bit in the Netherlands, but not all day, every day.

So I’ve posted the photo above to remind me of a beautiful autumn day spent visiting small towns and villages north of Amsterdam less than two months ago.

It’s of Edam. Yes, that Edam, of the cheese fame. It was sunny and crisp and charming and lovely.

And on a dark, cold, rainy night, it is just the thing to remind me of why I enjoy living here so much.
