How About a Kapsalon?

I’ve written in the past about favorite Dutch snacks such as frikandels and croquettes.

And of course the beloved frites (fries) smothered in mayonnaise. Yes, mayonnaise.

(I know, I know, just ignore that silliness and move on.)

But now there appears a new ‘favorite’ in the Dutch snack wars: the hairdresser (kapsalon).

Check out this story with accompanying video from Expatica.com/ne.

The ‘kapsalon’ consists of fries, grilled kebab meat, sauce (looks like mayonnaise to me) and cheese, put under a grill for a couple minutes, and then topped with chopped iceberg lettuce.

Wow. No wonder the man being interviewed says it’s popular after a night of partying. Not sure you’d want to try that baby when you’re stone cold sober.

And the crazy thing? The woman interviewer comments ‘that’s a lot of sauce’ as he squeezes on the mayonnaise.

Puh-leeze. That is truly NOTHING compared to the heaping mound of mayo that accompanies most orders of fries.

Ugh. Makes me queasy just thinking about it.
