Wildlife Filmmaker: How Cool is that?!

Recently I had the absolute pleasure of interviewing a talented young wildlife filmmaker, Michael Sanderson, for an article I was writing for The Underground, our new English language monthly newspaper here in The Hague.

Michael’s a creative young visionary in his field whose work has appeared on the BBC and National Geographic, and it was fascinating listening to his story. The interview itself was a joy to write: it’s easy to do when the conversation flows, the story is good, and the angle of the interview manifests itself effortlessly.

Michael is also a ‘cross-cultural’ who doesn’t quite fit in the ‘expat’ category (living outside his home/birth/passport country) since he’s Dutch living in Nederland. Born of British parents who came to the Netherlands for work and ended up staying, Michael was raised fluent in Dutch and English, and kept in touch with his British roots through extended family back in the UK.

He technically became an expat of sorts when he attended university in England, as did his sister. [Carrie is seasoned owner of a fitness, massage and health practice, blogs at Health & Healing and is a personal friend.] Now he gets to travel the world to exotic places filming animals, birds, insects and reptiles in their natural habitats.

How amazing is it to live your dream? Well, I hope you’ll enjoy reading about MichaelSanderson in this Neighbours Interview, because he’s definitely one of the coolest people I’ve had the privilege of meeting. Check out the photos, they’re fantastic. Just saying.
